The Architect

Paul Kahlfeldt was born in 1956 in Berlin; apprenticeship as building and furniture maker from 1976 to 1978; studied architecture from 1979 to 1984 at the Technical University of Berlin; diploma with Otto Steidle; participation in various architectural offices in Berlin; self-employed together with Petra Kahlfeldt since 1987; office manager of the Berlin office of Professor Josef Paul Kleihues from 1988 to 1992. Lectureship at the School of Engineering in 1998; Business and Design, Bernburg Anhalt, coordinator for structural restoration of the Festspielhaus Hellerau in Dresden from 1999 to 2001; professor of design, construction and building technology at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern from 1999 to 2005; Ph.D. from the Delft University of Technology in 2004; professor of basic principles and theory of building construction since 2005 at the Technical University of Dortmund. Board of the German Werkbund in Berlin; chairman of the International Academy of Architecture in Berlin
